Are you one of the
fortunate to have a bedroom large enough to place a piece of furniture at the
foot of your bed? Unfortunately, I am not but boy do I wish! If I were to
rearrange my bedroom furniture, I might be able to fit one in. Someday… that task may
just make the list.
Sometimes, it might be a little ‘too much’ if not done
proportionately right. But if it IS done correctly - WOW – what an addition to
the room in so many different ways.
It's convenient to have something there for so many different reasons:
A place to place laundry as you are folding and putting it away
A place to pack and
unpack your suitcase
A place to sit and
read
A place to put all
of those books you want to read
A place to put the
sheets when you are changing the linens
A place to store
linens and extra quilts
There are a lot of ways to furnish this space:
You can find
interesting pieces at tag sales or flea markets.
A Large Upholstered Bench - A large bench or ottoman can catch your bedspread at night, hold a tray of goodies, or serve as a great place to sit. Choose a fabric cover that enhances your decor and give it a seasonal change with a soft, cuddly throw in the winter or light, sheer slipcover for summer.
A Storage Bench - Whether you choose
a wooden bench or an upholstered one, a storage bench provides a perfect place
to put bedding, pillows, and extra linens. It's a great place to sit to put on
shoes and socks and also a handy place to put your bedspread at night.
A Pair of Chairs - If you love to
read in your room, you could place two small upholstered armchairs or side
chairs at the end of your bed. With an ottoman and small reading lamp, you'll
have a comfortable, private reading nook.
A Loveseat or Sofa - A small loveseat
is great at the end of a queen or king size bed. Have a good floor lamp close
by for reading and decorate the loveseat with a soft blanket and pretty
decorative pillows.
Baskets - Whether you need
to store extra blankets, toys, or anything else that you have in your bedroom,
baskets are a stylish storage idea and can look amazing at the end of (or even
under) your bed. Baskets are beautiful and portable - a great combination in a small
room.
A Trunk - Trunks are a great
accent piece in any room. But adding one to the foot of the bed can become a
beautiful focal point as well as serving as a spot for storage, seating and
surface area.
Now I’m thinking this might just make the list a little sooner
than I thought!
