Maryland Crab Cakes

Oh, so, unbelievably yummy… People will start requesting them!



1lb crab meat – backfin
2 eggs, beaten
1/8 C finely chopped green onion
½ C cracker crumbs
3 T mayonnaise
1 tsp prepared yellow mustard
Dash Worcestershire sauce


Toss ingredients lightly in the order given
Compress lightly into 2” to 3’ patties (see photo for thickness)

Fry in butter until golden brown on both sides

For what it’s worth, I use cracker crumbs I’ve made by crushing saltine crackers in a zip lock bag with a rolling pin.

I also use Phillip’s Crab House canned crab. It’s available at Costco. It’s as close to fresh Maryland blue crab in taste and texture (and trust me, texture’s very important here). I’ve used the brands available at Kroger and other grocery chains, the crab cakes just DO NOT come out the same.

Homemade Bubba Sauce

8 to 12 oz chili sauce
1/3 C lemon juice
3 T horseradish
1 T Worcestershire sauce
Few dashes of Tabasco (to taste)
