This kitchen photo takes my breath away, how about you? |
I am
a sucker for kitchens, all things in the kitchen; the design, the textures, the
food, the smells, the appliances, the conversation... everything. I
love all the detail involved in creating a beautiful, fine-tuned working
kitchen (remember Design is… All
in the Detail). I just get giddy when a kitchen renovation comes across my
desk and I can work closely with the homeowners to create their dream kitchen.
There
are so many different design styles,
but one of today's top runners seems to be ‘Rustic’. This style may not be new
to the design world and it may have gone by a few different names in the past;
but today, the need for natural materials and distressed details in the floors,
cabinetry, countertops, molding, lighting, furnishings, etc. gives a kitchen
space that extra warmth that is oh so perfect for the room in the house that is
deemed the “heart of the home”. When you think Rustic - don’t just think your
grandfather’s log cabin.
Check out these
beautiful and yes, rustic kitchens… can you find the rustic detail(s) in each
photo, whether it be small (just a pendant) or large (the whole room)?
The quiet rhythmic
monotone of the wall of logs fills one with the rustic peace of a secluded nook
in the woods. Gustav Stickley
