Have you noticed a new trend in wall art? a Random Letter… a Random Word… a Meaningful Monogram… even a Single Number … they seem to be popping up all over the ‘wall art’ scene.
Don’t get me wrong, if done properly and hung correctly – WOW what a statement! But what I find interesting is that sometimes the word or the letter really has nothing to do with anything.
Hey, look what we found at this great little shop!
Cute, right? …but really random.
I have seen random letters spaced on a wall… I wonder what is the attraction… the shapes… the contrasts … the thought of making sense out of chaos… the interest to the eye?
Is this something that grows on you… or something that instantly appeals to your creative side? Either way, it is definitely something that has to be hung correctly or it would drive you mad! (at least, it would me)
Personally, I love the concept, the creativity, the thought and process that it takes to match an appropriate word (or letter) with an appropriate space… and I think it brings a lot of interest and conversation to just about any room. *But, I am going to stick my head on the chopping block here to express my distaste - personal opinion, of course, not meant to be an insult to any one - towards those photographic letter art.
Is it just me or does this seem like a commercialized piece of art?
Now, when it comes to the actual material used for this art, there’s a plethora of choices.
METAL
PAPIER MACHE
TWIGS
BOOKS
BUTTONS
COOKIE CUTTERS
WOOD TILES
WOOD
MARQUE
DECALS
This is the type of art that allows your creativity to run wild with choices.
i.e. If you have the material, make a letter!
Once made, then comes more choices.
Should it be… HUNG FRAMED
or UNFRAMED
Should it be hung… in a GROUP
in a PUZZLE
in a WORD
or just STAND ALONE
oh, and let’s not forget about those popular MONOGRAMS
Do you have any of this unique and creative art ‘hanging’ around your home?
