SOUTHERN BAKED BEANS

Question: do you know the difference between Northern Baked Beans and Southern Baked Beans?

Ingredients

·        4 slices bacon

·        1 lb ground beef

·        1 small bell pepper, chopped

·        1 T garlic

·        1 large onion, chopped

·        Salt and pepper to taste

·        ¾ C brown sugar

·        1 tsp prepared yellow mustard

·        1 small can tomato paste

·        62 oz of pork and beans

Directions

Fry bacon until crisp. Set aside

In same pan, brown the ground beef, bell pepper, garlic, onion and salt/pepper.

Mix browned mixture with remaining ingredients

Add bacon back

Cook slowly, preferably in a Crockpot for 4 to 6 hours on low or for 1 hour in oven at 325 degrees.

Recipe can be doubled.
